The student game client contains no open web browsers, external hyperlinks, or social media integrations. Children operate within a strictly isolated, verified curriculum boundary.
No Unmoderated Social Chat
There is zero direct messaging, open chat rooms, or player-to-player text exchange in LearnQuest. Communication is limited to pedagogical dialogue with Nova, our bounded AI tutor.
Cartoon Avatar Identity
Learners customize fun, pre-approved cartoon characters (space explorers, friendly robots, animal scholars). Real photos and camera uploads are completely blocked by design.
Parental Screen-Time Controls
Parents can configure daily play duration limits (e.g. 20, 30, or 45 minutes) via the Parent Portal. When the limit is reached, the client gracefully prompts the student to rest.
🛡️ Verifiable Parental Consent (COPPA Compliance)
Before any child profile can be initialized in LearnQuest, an adult parent or guardian must verify their account via email confirmation and review our transparent data collection scope. In school districts, institutional administrators provide consent under FERPA and school COPPA provisions.

Nova, our intelligent tutoring companion, is restricted to curriculum-aligned educational assistance. Strict systemic guardrails ensure:
- Nova only responds to questions directly relevant to mathematics, literacy, and science concepts.
- Nova guides children using Socratic hints and encouragement rather than simply giving away answers.
- All model inputs and outputs are filtered for age-inappropriate content, personal inquiries, and off-topic conversations.
